The Arizona Diamondbacks have made their first big move this offseason by acquiring Eugenio Suarez from the Seattle Mariners, per ESPN’s Jeff Passen.
In return, the D-backs sent reliever Carlos Vargas and catcher Seby Zavala.
Last season with the Mariners, Suarez played in all 162 games; he hit 22 home runs, drove in 96 runs, and had a .714 slugging percentage.
Suarez, a known power hitter, also had a couple notable years with the Reds where he hit 30+ home runs.
With Evan Longoria likely gone, the Diamondbacks made it clear at the beginning of this offseason that they were in search of a third baseman. Now they have their guy.
